More about the course

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology will provide you with opportunities to develop and utilise broad, transferable skills by encouraging an ethos of personal and professional development.

Students will move on to the extended Diploma in year 2 after completing the Diploma in year 1. The course is designed to encourage students to think and work as creative individuals. You will develop your research, planning and production skills and learn to work in a more independent way.

Throughout this course you will develop an understanding of process of making creative content. This will include consideration of ways to reach a specified audience, the analysis of historical and current issues and ideology such as diversity and representation and lots of practical testing, experimentation and application.

You will continue to create your own content, using appropriate practical methods with an awareness of time management and safety.

By the end of the course, you will be an independent, creative thinker and be able to effectively and confidently present yourself and your work.

Entry requirements

A pass or ideally a merit in the UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production

Work experience opportunities

Previous students have worked with clients as part of their work experience, in the past this has included the NHS, Cumbria Police, and the Victorian Candle Company.

You are encouraged to showcase your talent through live briefs and competitions.

English and Maths

If you do not hold English and/or maths GCSEs at grade 4 or above, you will be supported with dedicated lessons to help you achieve English and maths qualifications.

You will use your maths skills when setting up cameras, calculating lighting and working out box office sales and figures. Your English skills will be developed when creative writing, storyboarding and explaining concepts and ideas.

Where can I progress?

Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress to Higher Education in the Screen Industries. Previous students have chosen to study Filmmaking, Film and Television, Media Production, Animation, Marketing, Event Management, Postproduction, Digital Arts and Radio Production. Students have also gone on to study Journalism, Film Studies, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Performing Arts, Law and Education.
