Do you follow the latest nail art trends? Do you watch beauty tutorials online? Ever thought of turning your passion into a career in the beauty industry? This could be the course for you.

Throughout the year you will study a range of topics and you will be performing treatments in a real working salon. You will learn how to prepare for, and provide, basic Manicure, Pedicure, and Facial Treatments.

You will explore different types of salons, the clients that they attract, and the main treatments and services offered in beauty therapy.

During the academic year there will be opportunities to enrich your learning. You will have the opportunity to go to beauty shows which are held in Manchester and Birmingham later throughout the year.

You will take part in competitions in house, across our colleges and have the opportunity to enter the world skills competitions. This will prepare you to work in a competitive environment whilst enhancing your professionalism, communication and working as part of a team.

Work experience opportunities

You will collaborate with students from across our hair and beauty courses and will gain experience working in our real salon environment, Essence Salon. Here, you’ll take on day-to-day salon duties and learn best practice.

English and Maths

Beauty Therapists rely on maths and English and both subjects will be embedded into your programme through use of ratios, writing down products and recommendations and measuring products.

If you do not have a grade 4 or equivalent at GCSE you will be required to work towards this alongside your course.

Where can I progress?

Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress onto the following qualifications:

Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques
Level 2 Certificate in Hair and Media Make up
