Do you want to take your passion for cooking to the next level? This Level 3 Professional Cookery course will help you become a true MasterChef.

This course provides the highest level of practical training to equip you with the skills required to work at the cutting edge of the catering industry in hotels and restaurants.

You will develop your culinary skills to the highest level to prepare you for employment in the Hospitality industry.

Opportunities to enter competitions at local and national level will allow you to practise communication and teamwork skills. In addition to this you will be able to showcase your talent to other professionals in the industry.

Entry requirements

Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skills / Professional Cookery
5 GCSEs grades 9-4 (A*-C)
Relevant industry experience

What will I achieve?

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery.

Work experience opportunities

Learners will be expected to complete work experience in the sector.

English and Maths

If you do not hold English and/or maths GCSEs at grade 4 or above, you will be supported with dedicated lessons to help you achieve English and maths qualifications.

Professional cooks and chefs need to read recipes and rely on maths skills to weigh ingredients, calculate ratios and multiply recipes.

Where can I progress?

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto a Level 4 NVQ Kitchen Management or seek employment in the Hospitality and Catering sector.

NCG Skills Competition

The fourth annual NCG Skills competition was held at Lewisham College. The day brought together students from across five of NCG’s colleges, putting their skills and knowledge to the test through a series of practical tasks in real work environments, in front of a panel of expert judges.
