Our Oyster Bistro and Restaurant is the perfect place for students to develop real-life experience in a kitchen whilst studying towards their qualifications.

From November to May we open up our Oyster Bistro and Restaurant on selected dates to the local public. This gives students the opportunity to take their learnings into a real-life scenario where they are able to develop skills which are critical in the world of Hospitality.

The Oyster Bistro and Restaurant is extremely popular with students and customers alike. Our students love that they are given the opportunity to learn whilst working in a restaurant scenario.

Where will I be studying?

Our Oyster Restaurant and Bistro is based in our Main Building on Victoria Place, Carlisle. Students studying Hospitality and Catering will have access to the Oyster Restaurant and Bistro during practical work, to gain an insight into the facilities used in the hospitality and catering industry.

Do you have study areas for students?

You will have access to many learning spaces where our teams are on hand to help you with independent study, research and academic skills such as referencing. You will also have access to our Student Zone with excellent resources.

What facilities can I use outside of my studies?

We aim to provide our students with an excellent learning experience that gives them the practical skills to make a difference within the industry. At college, you'll embrace your independence, make lifelong friends and access our award-winning facilities and activities.

At Carlisle College, we aim to give you as many opportunities as possible to have fun alongside your studies, including guest speakers, work experience, trips and on-campus events.

Are there places to eat and socialise?

On-site, there is a fully equipped coffee shop, catering kitchen and serving area open at peak times for students and staff, providing hot and cold food, drinks and a space to sit and eat.

If you don't fancy that, you can walk straight into the town centre, which hosts a variety of shops and nearby food places, including Greggs, Costa and McDonalds.
