This term in Uniformed Public Services we have had a number of employer encounters with some of the local public services. This has included visits to Penrith and Patterdale Mountain Rescue, the Cumbria Fire Service, Cumbria Police dogs and Maryport Lifeboat Rescue.
Learners have enjoyed learning about the services and some of their operations as well as exploring the differences between the government funded services and those in the voluntary sector. It has been particularly valuable for them to speak with and listen too those who have first-hand experience in local public services.
A number of students were inspired by those who spend their time volunteering in public services which they strongly believe in, and the sense of community that is massively important to those in these roles.
