Carlisle College is delighted to have been named as a finalist at the in-Cumbria Business Awards 2026, recognising the College’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment where students, apprentices and staff can thrive.
The College has been shortlisted for the Diversity and Inclusion Award, sponsored by The Cumberland, alongside Northern Equality and Diversity (NEAD CIC) and Pony Pals Lakeland CIC. The award recognises organisations that demonstrate a passion for fairness and a commitment to delivering equality.
Being shortlisted for the Diversity and Inclusion Award reflects Carlisle College’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that education, training and opportunities are accessible and welcoming to people from all backgrounds.

The shortlisting continues a successful association between Carlisle College and the in-Cumbria Business Awards. At the 2025 awards, former Carlisle College apprentice Isabelle Smith, who completed her Level 2 Painting and Decorating apprenticeship while employed by AJM Decorating Ltd, was named Apprentice of the Year. Isabelle was recognised for her dedication and achievement, including completing her apprenticeship six months ahead of schedule and succeeding in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
The 2026 awards ceremony will take place on 12 November at The Halston in Carlisle, bringing together businesses and organisations from across Cumbria to celebrate the county's talent, innovation and achievements.
